Change in NFBA Staff Leadership

June 16, 2010

Dear NFBA Members and Stakeholders:

For the past several months we have had a number of positive things that we have reported to you on, including:

• a significant increase in PFMI fundraising and marketing activity
• launching of an online education program for the design community
• updating of our bylaws
• a successful Frame Building Expo in Louisville
• Rollout of training for Code Officials in Pennsylvania and sessions planned for Fall 2010 with the Indiana Code Officials Association
• Significant improvements to the NFBA website
• An increase in the number of Building of the Year submissions over last year
• Closer communication, coordination and cooperation with the nine NFBA Chapters
• An increase in NFBA membership

We’re expecting that the second half of 2010 will be as equally productive in NFBA’s work to serve its members and help drive the growth of the Post-Frame industry.  Fueling a big part of this success has been our President, Tom Drake.  Regrettably, Tom has submitted his resignation to the associations’ management company AMC.  This comes as both a big surprise and a major disappointment to us and to AMC.

We have tried to persuade Tom to reconsider leaving but his decision is final.  We respect Tom's decision to spend time looking at taking his career in another direction including the possible acquisition of a business while helping to care for out of state elderly family members.  Tom will be onboard until the end of June helping with the transition of his responsibilities to other key staff at the association.  He will be a resource to us in July to support the transition.

After July 16th, Anne Cordes (an AMC executive director for nearly 20 years and the executive that recently lead us through the transition to AMC) will serve as interim chief staff executive while the leadership works with AMC to recruit a new chief staff executive.  Lindsey Lozmack, Daniel Weinstock, Peggy Doherty, Pam Oddi, Tom Calvin and the rest of the NFBA team will continue to focus their talents on the day-to-day work of the association.

Both of us will be a daily resource to the board leadership and staff, particularly until Anne gets up to speed.

We look forward to your support and welcome questions or comments.

John Hill, NFBA Chairman                             Mark Engle, AMC Principal
