Ace Hardware
Shirking more conventional methods of construction, Ace Hardware of Wautoma, WI, selected post frame as the material component to rebuild a structure that had been destroyed by fire. Duane Detjens, of TCP Construction and the owner of the construction site, recommended a post-frame building to the new owners.
All-Purpose Building
Rose Magrann, head of Friends Academy of Westampton, describes the academy's 3-year-old Commons Building as "a beautiful post-frame building that complements the other buildings on our campus." She considers it the "final piece to our [campus] puzzle," providing an all-purpose facility that serves as a gymnasium, cafeteria, or auditorium. The building was named a second-place winner in the Industrial category of the 2009 Building of the Year competition sponsored by the National Frame Building Association.
AutoMotorPlex Clubhouse
Lester Buildings, LLC of Lester Prairie, MN built the AutoMotorPlex Clubhouse for Bruno Silikowski of AutoMotorPlex, LLC. This is a clubhouse for members who have purchased a garage condo and are motorsport enthusiasts.
Chartered Territory
Post-frame veteran Jim Simon, president and project manager of Tailored Building Systems, Grand Rapids, MI, fondly recalls the heyday of the educational market. Besides building gymnasiums and auditoriums for conventional high schools, his company completed 5-7 school projects each season in the late 1990s. The buildings–all charter schools–were located primarily in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.
Complete Footcare Medical Facility
Fingerlakes Construction Company of Clyde, NY erected the Complete Footcare facility, built for Dr. Carrie O'Neill. The facility is a medical building for podiatry services. The unique design of the dormers and valleys give it a lower profile look. The stucco exterior adds to the low maintenance and appealing décor.
Grace Baptist Church
The use of brick and horizontal HardiPlank on the "curb appeal" side and economical hi-rib steel on less visible sides was a way to save money but not compromise the beauty of the building. The entrance is accented by a double wide drive-through canopy for easy drop off and pick up in poor weather.
Heath Retail Center
In January 2008 WC Buildings, LLC of Newark, OH undertook an ambitious building project in Heath, OH for Keinath & Heatwolfe, LLC. The assignment was to construct a four unit commercial building – a strip mall - under the name Heath Retail Center.
High Rock Landings Retail Mall
This retail facility, High Rock Landings, was constructed with post frame by the Morton Buildings, Inc. branch office in Lexington, NC. The customer had compared post frame with metal frame, but steel framing did not offer the details desired by the property developer.
Lawrence Township Fire Station
Lawrence Township, MI needed to retrofit their old brick and block fire station to house a new fire engine. “Winter was rapidly approaching,” recalled builder Glen Thomsen. Thomsen considered using block and steel. But, given the cold weather and the longer building processes of both, the project would have taken an estimated six to eight weeks longer than with post frame.
Our Town
When it comes to post-frame building, Jim Delmont, a selfemployed architect in Harrisonville, MO, and Bob Lotspeich of SL Construction, Lester Building Systems, in nearby Archie, MO, are on a roll. They have collaborated on a couple dozen post-frame projects in their area that have received accolades from satisfied building owners and honors such as the Lester Award of Excellence or an honorable mention for Building of the Year by the National Frame Building Association.
Retail Home Furnishing Business
When the owners of Oak Creations of Millersport, Ohio needed to expand to a new location, they chose post-frame construction after an evaluation of all options. In the end, the transition was huge success. “Every day we have so many compliments on the exterior appearance of this post-frame building and its design,” says co-owner, Rosann Franks.

Talk About Convenience
Jim Delmont, architect at The Design Club, Inc., in Harrisonville, MO, has recently built or renovated several convenience stores using post-frame building systems. He is quick to rave about post frame's flexible design, speed of construction, and cost-effectiveness when compared to other types of building systems.
Weathering The Storm
In the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the National Frame Building Association (NFBA) reported that post-frame buildings in the southern coastal states stood tall amidst the rubble of other buildings nearby. The reports were no surprise to those familiar with post-frame construction who know that post-frame performs exceptionally well under tremendous wind, snow and seismic loads.
